Marc Wilson scored 24 of his 26 points in the second half to lead Minnesota to a 73-63 upset of second-ranked and previously unbeaten Michigan in a Big Ten game last night in Minneapolis.

Michigan (16-1 overall, 4-1 Big Ten) had its 32-game regular-season and 19-game conference winning streak ended.

With Michigan leading, 35-34, with 15:18 left in the game, Wilson scored 15 points during a 25-12 Minnesota run over the next 8:42 to lift the Gophers to a 59-47 lead with 6:33 to play. Michigan never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

Todd Alexander had 16 points for the Gophers (11-6, 1-3), who hit 15 of their last 17 free throws.

Minnesota broke open a see-saw game midway through the first half as Alexander ignited a 10-0 spurt, giving his team a 24-14 lead. Michigan, however, scored the game's next 10 points to forge a 24-24 tie before the Gophers rebuilt a 30-26 halftime edge.

Gary Grant finished with 19 points and Antoine Joubert 12 for Michigan.

*Western Kentucky 75, Alabama-Birmingham 72: Billy Gordon scored 20 points, including a 15-foot jumper with five seconds remaining in overtime, as the visiting Hilltoppers upset the 12th-ranked Blazers in a Sun Belt Conference game.

The victory ended a 12-game home court winning streak for UAB, which fell to 16-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Western Kentucky is 12-3 and 2-1.

Jerome Mincy hit two free throws with 2:07 left in overtime to put UAB ahead, 72-70, but Western Kentucky scored the last five points for the victory.

Steve Mitchell led UAB with 24 points and Mincy added 14.

*Duke 92, Wake Forest 63: David Henderson scored 17 points and Johnny Dawkins had 14 as the third-ranked and unbeaten Blue Devils won easily in an Atlantic Coast Conference game at home.

Duke is 16-0 overall and 4-0 in the ACC going into Saturday's game with top-ranked and unbeaten North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Mark Alarie scored 12 points and Jay Bilas 10 for Duke. Wake Forest (6-10, 0-4) got 15 points from Mark Cline.

*Purdue 85, Northwestern 64: Sophomore forward Todd Mitchell had 11 second-half points, including six in a 14-0 Purdue streak to start the second half, leading the 19th-ranked Boilermakers over visiting Northwestern in a Big Ten game in West Lafayette, Ind.

Mitchell and sophomore guard Troy Lewis had 19 points each for Purdue (15-3, 4-1). Shon Morris had a game-high 20 points for Northwestern (6-8, 0-4).

*Bradley 78, West Texas State 53: Sophomore guard Hersey Hawkins scored 21 points to lead the 20th-ranked Braves to an easy home court victory in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Hawkins made eight of 10 field goal attempts and five of seven free throws for Bradley (17-1, 4-0). West Texas State (8-7, 2-3) was led by senior forward William Childs with 15 points.

*Providence 76, Boston College 75: Bill Donovan's 10-foot jumper with one second left in overtime boosted Providence past Boston College in a Big East game in Newton, Mass.

Donovan had a game-high 22 points and five assists for Providence (8-8, 1-3). Boston College (10-5, 2-3) was led by Dana Barros and Dominic Pressley with 18 points each.

*Nevada-Las Vegas 79, UC-Santa Barbara 65: Senior Anthony Jones of Washington, D.C., scored 31 points as the 10th-ranked Running Rebels won the Pacific Coast Athletic Association game in Santa Barbara.

UNLV is 15-2 overall and 5-0 in the league. Fred Banks had 15 points and Armon Gilliam had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Running Rebels. Scott Fisher led Santa Barbara (7-8) with 20 points and nine rebounds.
