Carl Lewis, Billy Olson, Eamonn Coghlan and Valerie Brisco-Hooks were big-name losers in the Dallas Times Herald Invitational track Meet tonight.

After Emmit King, 26, ran the 60-yard dash in 6.12 to beat Lewis' 6.15, Lewis said:

"It was my first meet of the season and I wasn't really very sharp. It's been a busy week. I shot a movie on Wednesday and Thursday -- I play a cop -- and Friday I met with my musical producer."

Olson failed to clear 18 feet 0 1/4, the opening height in the pole vault. He'd missed, too, in Toronto Friday night. Dave Volz won tonight at 18-8 1/4.

Doug Padilla upset Coghlan in the men's two mile run, 8:35.83 to 8:36.21.

Diane Dixon ran the women's 440 in 53.21 seconds to beat Brisco-Hooks.

Mike Conley triple jumped 56-5 1/2 to break the meet record. Keith Conner had held the record at 56-0 1/2.

World indoor record holder Stephanie Hightower won the women's 60-yard hurdles in 7.60. Merlene Ottey-Page won the women's 60-yard dash in 6.68 seconds.
