Kenny Gattison scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Old Dominion blunted a late surge by De Paul and defeated the Blue Demons, 66-53, last night in Norfolk.

The Monarchs, winning their fifth straight game and 12th in their last 13, improved to 17-5, and De Paul fell to 13-8.

Old Dominion led by 34-25 at the half but was unable to shake the Blue Demons, who pulled within four at 48-44 with 4:45 remaining.

Old Dominion scored the next four points to take a 52-44 lead with 3:58 left, and the Blue Demons never got any closer.

Backing Gattison were Frank Smith with 14 points and eight assists and Clarence Hanley and Keith Thomas with 12 points each. Rod Strickland led the Blue Demons with 15 points. Kansas 100, Missouri 66

Danny Manning scored 27 points as No. 3 Kansas rolled past Missouri in a Big Eight game in Lawrence, Kan.

The Jayhawks (23-3, 8-1), scored the first nine points of the game, and Missouri never came closer than seven. The Tigers fell to 17-11 and 4-5.

Kansas took a 49-32 halftime lead, then outscored Missouri by 10-2 at the start of the second half to take an insurmountable 25-point lead, 59-34.

Guard Cedric Hunter had 16 points. Archie Marshall added 13 points and Greg Dreiling, the Jayhawks' 7-foot-1 center, had 12.

Derrick Chievous had 17 points for Missouri and Jeff Strong 16. Duke 85, Stetson 66

Johnny Dawkins scored 18 points, Mark Alarie had 17 and two other Duke players were in double figures as the second-ranked Blue Devils won in a nonconference game in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Duke improved its record to 23-2 before an Ocean Center crowd of 5,387. The Blue Devils are 14-0 in nonconference games.

Jay Bilas scored 14 points for Duke, and David Henderson added 12. Randy Anderson led Stetson (8-14) with 16 points, and Charles Stevenson had 12.

Forward Darryl Kennedy scored 32 points and had 15 rebounds to lead eighth-ranked Oklahoma in a Big Eight game in Norman, Okla.

The victory was the Sooners' 47th straight at home and gave them a 22-2 record, 7-2 in the Big Eight. Kansas State, which lost to Oklahoma by only three points earlier this season, is 15-9 and 3-6.

Oklahoma guard Tim McCalister scored 17 of his 25 points in the first 20 minutes as the Sooners took a 42-27 halftime lead. David Bowie added 14 points for Oklahoma.

Norris Coleman led Kansas State with 31 points and led all rebounders with 16. Notre Dame 81, Fordham 58

Jim Dolan didn't miss a shot from the floor or the foul line and scored 13 points to lead No. 14 Notre Dame over visiting Fordham.

Dolan, who was three for three from the field and seven for seven from the foul line, was joined in double figures by Scott Hicks with 11 points and Ken Barlow and Tim Kempton with 10 each.

Notre Dame (17-4) led the entire game. Fordham (11-5) was led by Tom Parrotta with 14 points and Joe Paterno with 10.
