In Chicago, Doug Wilson scored two goals and Darryl Sutter provided the tie breaker that enabled the Blackhawks to regain sole possession of first place in the Norris Division. The St. Louis Blues are two points back.

Detroit took a 3-0 lead in the first period. Wilson scored early in the second period and tied the game at 3:39 of the third period before Sutter broke the tie with his 15th goal at 7:48.

Kings 7, Flames 3: The Kings wore their purple road uniforms at home in Inglewood, Calif., for the first time since the 1969-70 season, hoping to change their luck.

They got four straight goals in the last period and beat Calgary for the first time since Dec. 18, 1984. They had been 0-11-1 in that span and, this year, had won eight of 36 games at the Forum.

The Kings and Vancouver remain tied for the final playoff berth in the Smythe Division with 53 points apiece.

Jim Fox and Bernie Nicholls each scored twice in the victory. It was 3-3 entering the final period, Phil Sykes scoring the lead goal on a 15-foot breakaway shot at 2:35.
