Dennis Rasmussen allowed three hits in 8 2/3 innings and Mike Pagliarulo drove in two runs with a homer and double, leading the New York Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Mariners last night in Seattle.

The Yankees won for the ninth time in 11 games. New York has also won nine of its last 10 games against Seattle.

Rasmussen (5-1) combined on a three-hitter with Dave Righetti, who got his 12th save. Rasmussen struck out five and walked two and did not allow a hit after Alvin Davis' leadoff single in the fourth.

Pagliarulo is 11 for 31 in his last eight games with four home runs and 11 RBI.

*Tigers 7, Angels 4: Dave LaPoint pitched five no-hit innings and Lou Whitaker and Lance Parrish hit home runs as visiting Detroit won its fifth in a row.

LaPoint (2-3) took a 6-0 lead into the seventh before Dick Schofield's grand slam made it 6-4. Willie Hernandez took over from there and got his seventh save.

Parrish led off the ninth with his 200th career homer, his 10th this season.

Don Sutton (2-5), trying for his 298th career victory, took the loss.
