National League -- Named SS Hubie Brooks and Jeff Reardon of the Montreal Expos player and pitcher of the month for May. San Francisco Giants -- 1B Will Clark will be out until next week with sore left elbow.Pittsburgh Pirates -- Signed their No. 2 pick in draft, RHP Mike Walker of the University of Houston. Ohio Valley Conference -- School presidents voted unanimously to accept Tennessee State as a member, tabled a motion that would have granted associate membership to Western Kentucky and accepted the withdrawal of Akron from the conference after the next academic year. Hall of Fame -- Named as new members Bob Seagren, the 1968 Olympic pole vault champion; Barney Ewell, a 1948 Olympic gold medalist in the 400-meter relay; Ron Laird, whose 65 career race-walk victories spanned three decades; and Andy Bakjian, an official who died last February.
