North Korea rejected an International Olympic Committee compromise to stage some 1988 Olympic events, its national news agency reported.

North Korea has threatened to boycott the Seoul games unless its demand to share the events equally is met.

Referring to talks between North and South Korean delegates in Lausanne, Switzerland, last week, the statement rejected an IOC proposal to hold a few events in North Korea under the supervision of the Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee. At Lausanne, the IOC proposed that the table tennis and archery events along with part of the soccer and cycling be staged in the north provided North Korea drop all other claims to the Seoul games.

"It goes without saying that this is too far removed from our joint co-hosting proposal and a preposterous one beyond imagination," the North Korean Central News Agency said. BOXING
