Maryland's Len Lynch and Al Covington have been cut by the NFL New York Giants.

The 270-pound Lynch was judged to lack speed at offensive guard and Coach Bill Parcells said, "I didn't think he was well enough advanced on pass protection. . . . " Parcells said Covington was too slow at defensive back . . .

The Green Bay Packers reached a tentative agreement with holdover quarterback Lynn Dickey and released veteran Jim Zorn. Dickey, listed as a reserve as Vince Ferragamo and Robbie Bosco also challenge Randy Wright to start, said, "I will be just like any other free agent trying to make the team." . . .
