Toronto Blue Jays -- Signed veteran free-agent C Charlie Moore; sent rookie C Jeff DeWillis to Class AA Knoxville. Moore, 33, played 13 seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers. He appeared in 34 games with the Class A San Jose Bees this season.

Milwaukee Brewers -- Put RHP Mike Birkbeck (1-4, 6.20 ERA), a starter, on 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 2. He has sore right shoulder. Team recalled RHP Jay Aldrich (1-0, 3.41, six saves), a reliever, from Denver. Team released IF Jim Adduci (.298 in Denver) so he could sign with Taiyo Whales in Japan League.

Chicago White Sox -- Sent LHP Joel McKeon (1-2, 8.00) to Hawaii and brought up LHP Bryan Clark (1-6, 2.98), a former Alexandria Mariner. Earlier, RHP Joel Davis was sent to Hawaii and RHP Scott Nielsen brought up.

New York Yankees -- Put OF Rickey Henderson (.324, 10 HRs, 23 SBs), who has a sore leg, on 15-day disabled list and reacquired OF Henry Cotto from Columbus; 1B Don Mattingly returned to New York to have back examined.

Minnesota Twins -- Called up LHP Randy Niemann from Portland; demoted LHP Joe Klink.

Chicago Cubs -- Sent RHP Dave Pavlas to Texas Rangers to complete deal for LHP Mike Mason. Pavlas will be assigned to Tulsa.

St. Louis Cardinals -- Put OF Jim Lindeman, who has sore back, on 15-day disabled list; reactivated OF Tito Landrum.

Houston Astros -- Recalled P Ron Mathis and IF Jim Pankovits from Tucson; optioned RHP Julio Solano and OF Paul Householder there.
