BALTIMORE, JUNE 7 -- Thomas Prehn of the SchwinnIcy Hot cycling team and Madonna Harris of the Celestial Seasonings racing team won divisions of the Nabisco Mayor's Cup Series today.

Both racers established substantial leads with about 24 laps remaining in the 69-lap (31-mile) race, and teammates prevented takeover attempts on the half-mile course.

Prehn broke away with teammate Tom Broznowski, who leads the men's standings with $10,656. He edged ahead of Broznowski rounding the final turn, winning the $700 first prize in 1 hour 12 minutes 36 seconds. Prehn, who will leave the series next week to defend his national road racing crown, also accumulated $475 in prime prizes for winning designated laps.

Harris' teammates helped keep her in front for the final 25 laps of the 41-lap (18.5-mile) women's race. She defeated Team Lycra's Sandy Meister by 43 seconds in 48:16, winning $2,175 for the day and moving from fourth to second in the overall standings with $5,780.

"When she went off her teammates started blocking; she had excellent teamwork," said Meister, who finished second without the aid of teammates who are racing elsewhere this weekend.

Henny Top, also of Celestial Seasonings, maintained her lead in the overall series, finishing third and adding $550 to her total of $7,196.

The leg was the 11th in a series of criterium races that concludes in Philadelphia, New York and Cambridge, Mass., over the next three weeks.
