CYCLING Race Across America -- Mike Secrest, 34, of Flint, Mich., is the leader in the bicycle race, which will end Monday about noon at the Washington Monument. Secrest was in Beloit, Kan., in 120 hours 35 minutes. The women's leader, Casey Patterson, 43, of Topanga, Calif., was in Last Chance, Colo., in 119 hours 19 minutes.

COLLEGES Georgetown -- Signed women's basketball F Chrystal Ridgeway, who averaged 20 points and 15 rebounds for Chadsley High School in Detroit. Also, John Trautmann has earned a spot on the U.S. Junior National track team that will compete in Havana, Vancouver and Pullman, Wash., July 4-19. Academic All-Americas -- Andrew Phelan, a member of the Georgetown track team, has been named to the at-large third team. Phelan graduated magna cum laude and will attend Georgetown Law School in the fall. Virginia Tech -- Has offered to extend contract of football coach Frank Beamer.
