Alexander is in his 16th major league season. He has a lifetime 165-145 record and 3.71 ERA. Montreal Expos -- Announced resignation of General Manager Murray Cook for personal and family reasons. Bill Stoneman, vice president for baseball administration, will replace him. Cook, 36, was named Montreal's general manager on Sept. 5, 1984. Pittsburgh Pirates -- Sent SS Felix Fermin to Class AA Harrisburg for 20-day injury rehabilitation, SS Sammy Khalifa and LHP Hipolito Pena to AAA Vancouver; recalled SS Rafael Belliard from Harrisburg, bought RHP Mark Ross from Vancouver.
