DALE CITY, VA., SEPT. 4 -- Kenny Ford ran 21 yards for a touchdown on fourth down with 4:55 remaining in the game tonight and Oxon Hill scored a 15-11 victory over Gar-Field in a nonleague season-opening game.

The Clippers, stymied much of the second half, trailed by 11-7 when they took possession at their 20-yard line with eight minutes to play. A personal foul gave Oxon Hill its initial first down of the half and the Clippers followed with three consecutive first downs, bringing the ball to the Indians 24.

Tim Jones ran 15 yards on the first play following the penalty, quarterback Todd Mizuleawa completed a 14-yard pass to Cecil Brown and Jones followed with an 11-yard run.

Gar-Field's defense allowed four yards on the next three plays, setting up fourth and six. After a timeout, Mizuleawa faked expertly before handing to Ford on an inside reverse. Ford broke to the outside, eluded a final tackler and scored for a 13-11 edge. Mizuleawa threw to Jones for the two-point conversion.

"We didn't know what to really expect coming down here," said Oxon Hill Coach Mike Pearson. "We're a very young team and we made a lot of mistakes . . . There's no need to get frustrated because a young team is going to take its knocks."

After a scoreless first quarter, the Clippers took the lead two minutes before halftime. Ford's interception and 36-yard return gave Oxon Hill possession at the Gar-Field 47. Ford gained 11 yards on a third down to keep the drive alive and Mizuleawa threw 21 yards to Al Montgomery for a first down at the 6. One play later, Mizuleawa broke a tackle in the backfield and scored from three yards. Oxon Hill (1-0) 0 7 0 8 15 Gar-Field (0-1) 0 3 5 3 11
