Heavy rain in Franklin, Wis., forced the postponement of the final round of the $600,000 Greater Milwaukee Open, with Gary Hallberg, Dan Pohl, Wayne Levi and Bill Kratzert tied for the lead.

Because more than half the field -- 46 golfers -- had finished play, the round has to be completed under PGA rules. Despite the threat of more rain, golfers will try again today on the Tuckaway Country Club course.

Hallberg, Pohl, Levi and Kratzert stood at 15-under. Larry Ziegler was one shot back . . .

Larry Mowry made a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole to beat second-round leader Bob Charles and Gary Player by one stroke in the $325,000 Crestar Classic in Richmond. Mowry, a rookie on the Senior PGA Tour, finished with a 5-under-par 67 for a 54-hole total of 13-under 203 . . .

Jan Stephenson beat Nancy Lopez to win the $225,000 Safeco Classic in Kent, Wash., for her 15th victory in 14 years on the LPGA Tour. Stephenson shot a 4-under 68 for a total of 277. Lopez closed with a 67 to finish one shot back . . .

In St. Nom La Breteche, France, Ian Woosnam won the $480,000 Lancome Trophy tournament, shooting a final-round 66 over the 6,138-yard course for a 24-under-par total of 264 . . .

Woody FitzHugh of Woody's Range near Herndon parred the second hole of a playoff against Fred Gibson of East Potomac after each shot a 36-hole total of 145 to win the Middle Atlantic PGA Henson Pro-Am at Green Hill in Quantico, Md.

FitzHugh added 75 to an opening-round 70; Gibson shot 74-71.
