Carter Hertzberg's two-yard touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter gave Landon a 23-16 come-from-behind win over Blair yesterday at Landon.

Hertzberg's run capped a 16-0 second half for the Bears (2-0), who held the Blazers (1-3) to 13 total yards in the final two periods.

The game appeared to be Blair's early on after the Blazers converted two Landon mistakes into 10 points and led, 16-7.

Blair's good fortune began on the opening kickoff. The short kick was fielded by Landon defensive end Harmar Thompson, who fumbled as he was hit, turning the ball over to the Blazers on the Landon 40.

A 20-yard run by Jason Taylor set up the game's first score, a 26-yard field goal by Josh Fedalen with 7:57 left in the first quarter.

Later, a Landon punt was blocked by Carroll Allen, and Blair recovered at the Landon 11. Three plays later, quarterback Eric Asongwed threw a six-yard touchdown pass to Fedalen to give the Blazers a 16-7 lead.

In the third quarter, the momentum shifted drastically. Landon's defense completely shut down the Blazers, forcing a punt from the 3. Thompson at least partially atoned for his opening-kickoff blunder by blocking Wilber Agyekum's kick out of the end zone for a safety with 5:41 left in the third quarter.

John Micklitsch then broke down the right sideline for a 38-yard touchdown run on the first play after the free kick. Brian Taptich's extra point made it 16-16.

Later, Hertzberg deflected another Agyekum punt, giving Landon the ball on its 46. Eight plays later, Hertzberg scored the game-winner, running up the middle for a two-yard touchdown.Blair (1-3) 3 13 0 0 16 Landon (2-0) 0 7 9 7 23
