COLLEGES Tom Belesimo, Navy gymnast, is a recipient of the 1987 East Coast Athletic Conference award of valor, given to an athlete who exemplifies character and perseverance. The 1987 Naval Academy graduate came back from a severe neck injury last season to win the high bar competition while helping Navy win the Eastern Intercollegiate Gymnastic League championships.

JURISPRUDENCE Ron Springs, former Dallas Cowboys running back, has been indicted by a grand jury on charges he wrote two bad checks totaling $776 to a Richardson, Tex., travel agency. Springs, 30, who left the NFL team in 1985, faces up to 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine if convicted.
