Before his ninth-ranked Little Hoyas put their 16-game winning streak on the line against Sidwell Friends yesterday, Georgetown Prep Coach Jim Fegan said he expected the Quakers to be a dangerous opponent.

It didn't turn out that way.

Georgetown Prep halfbacks Mike Green and Brian Haley, quarterback Marc Richards and defensive back Ed Sullivan led the Little Hoyas to a 31-0 win over their Interstate Athletic Conference foe at Georgetown Prep.

"There is a lot of great tradition here," said Richards, who completed 14 of 27 passes for 178 yards. "A lot of great players have graduated from here in the past and that makes everybody else play well."

On Georgetown Prep's first possession, Haley was stopped short of the goal on fourth down from the Sidwell Friends 1. But after a Friends' punt, Georgetown Prep moved quickly back into Quakers' territory for Tripp Shreves' 44-yard field goal.

In the second quarter, Richards, often under pressure, began to find Haley (four receptions, 58 yards) and Green (four receptions, 36 yards) on short screen passes. And with less than 10 minutes left in the quarter, Green scored on a five-yard run up the middle for a 9-0 lead.

On their next possession, the Little Hoyas again drove inside the Sidwell Friends 10 as Richards connected on two short passes to Sullivan, who doubles as a halfback. On third and goal from the 5, Richards rolled out to his left and found Haley open in the end zone for a 16-0 halftime lead.

Sidwell Friends was led by halfback Mike Berefield, but after the Little Hoyas began to key on him, the Quakers offense slowed.

Sidwell Friends, which seemingly plays Georgtown Prep tough each time the two teams meet, played more aggressively in the third quarter, shutting out the Little Hoyas. But Friends gave up 15 quick points at the start of the fourth quarter.

"Penalties held us back today," said Berefield. "We felt that they didn't really do as much {against} our defense, but we had turnovers inside the 30-yard line that helped them. They are a good team, but I feel that we could have played better than we did." Sidwell Friends (2-3) 0 0 0 0 0 Georgetown Prep (4-0) 3 13 0 15 31
