Kenny Ford says he does not consider himself Oxon Hill's secret weapon. But almost every time the senior tailback touches the ball, good things happen.

Ford carried the ball only three times yesterday, but two were long touchdown runs, the second coming on the first play of the third quarter, as the 11th-ranked Clippers routed Northwestern, 33-19, in a Prince George's AA League game at Oxon Hill.

Ford, who spent the better part of the afternoon leading a Clippers defense that had six sacks, batted down four passes and returned an interception for another score, wasn't even included in the offensive game plan because of an allergic reaction that flared up in Saturday's 29-0 shutout of Largo.

"Coach {Mike Pearson} asked me at halftime if I could go," said Ford, whose other run netted nine yards. "I said I felt fine."

Oxon Hill (6-1 overall, 5-1 in AA play) wasn't very sharp in the first two periods, netting only 90 yards, 60 rushing. But aided by a couple of errors by the Wildcats (5-2, 4-2), Oxon Hill still led 18-7.

On the first play from scrimmage of the second half, Ford followed his blocking on a sweep left and raced 57 yards virtually untouched for a touchdown and a 24-7 Clippers advantage.

The Wildcats, who forced five turnovers and played well offensively in spots, made too many crucial mistakes. Unable to keep Ford and Steve Martin off quarterback Doug Hill, the Wildcats were often faced with third- and fourth-and-long situations.

Facing a fourth and 47 at its own 1, Northwestern watched a high snap sail out of the end zone for a safety that gave Oxon Hill a 26-7 lead.

With 53 seconds left, Ford took an inside reverse, bounced off two would-be tacklers and jogged 50 yards up the middle for his second score. Darren Huckaby's kick made it 33-7.

"We planned to run much more today to give our line some work but we didn't want to run Kenny much," Pearson said. Northwestern (5-2) 0 7 0 12 19 Oxon Hill (6-1) 12 6 15 0 33
