Wide receiver Tripp Shreves made several clutch pass receptions and tackle David Flynn had three sacks, blocked a pass and threw the key block on two long touchdown runs to lead seventh-ranked Georgetown Prep past St. Stephen's, 24-6, in an Interstate Athletic Conference game yesterday.

The victory clinched at least a tie for the IAC title and extended Georgetown Prep's winning streak, the area's longest, to 21 games over three seasons. The Little Hoyas (8-0) can win their third straight league title Friday at Bullis.

Georgetown Prep scored first on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Marc Richards to Shreves to lead 6-0 with 2:03 remaining in the first quarter. Shreves, who started at wide receiver for the first time in place of injured Brian Haley, made a diving catch on the next possession for a 14-yard gain that set up Gary Scruggs' three-yard touchdown run with 8:25 left in the first half. Shreves kicked a 32-yard field goal with 1:24 remaining in the first half for a 15-0 lead.

The Little Hoyas controlled play in the first half, but St. Stephen's served notice that the second half would be different when Gant Randolph (11 carries, 144 yards) raced 79 yards around left end for a touchdown that cut the deficit to 15-6.

Midway through the third period, Georgetown Prep's Chris Roa blocked Gary Gardiner's punt in the end zone for a safety and a 17-6 Little Hoyas lead.

St. Stephen's managed several scoring threats, but key defensive plays by Flynn, Peter Barrett and Chris Durcan stopped each drive.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Georgetown Prep scored an insurance touchdown when Scruggs ran 41 yards after a block by Flynn dropped two Saints defenders.St. Stephen's (4-4) 0 0 6 0 6 Georgetown Prep (8-0) 6 9 2 7 24
