Brian Bellows scored at 13:32 of the third period last night to lift Minnesota to a 5-4 victory over the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo, ending the North Stars' three-game losing streak.

Bellows took a pass from behind the Buffalo net and one-timed a shot past Sabres goalie Darren Puppa for his 12th goal of the year. Puppa suffered his first loss of the season against four victories and a tie.

The Sabres entered the third period trailing, 4-2. Phil Housley brought Buffalo to 4-3 just 20 seconds into the period with his 11th goal of the season.

With the North Stars on the power play, Scott Arniel backhanded a shot past Minnesota goaltender Kari Takko at the 2:39 mark to tie the score, 4-4.

Flames 10, Kings 7:

Jim Peplinski, Carey Wilson and Mike Bullard scored two goals apiece to power Calgary over visiting Los Angeles.

The Flames scored on their first two shots on goal against Roland Melanson. Dave Taylor, who was playing in his 700th NHL game, scored for the Kings.

Canucks 6, Nordiques 4:

Power-play goals by Tony Tanti, Dan Hodgson and Greg Adams rallied Vancouver past Quebec.

The victory was the first at home for the Canucks in eight games since an opening-night triumph over St. Louis, and the loss was the Nordiques' first on the road in seven games this season.
