ELIZABETH CITY, N.C., DEC. 4 -- The University of the District of Columbia erased an eight-point halftime deficit tonight to defeat Norfolk State, 85-84.

The Firebirds held on when UDC's Richard McLean grabbed a rebound with four seconds left to advance to the finals of the Elizabeth City Tournament.

UDC trailed by 49-41 at halftime and was down, 64-59, with 11:01 remaining. Richard McLean (24 points) then scored five straight points for the Firebirds (4-0) to tie the score with 10:32 left.

Antonio Harris scored 25 points to lead the Firebirds, who play Elizabeth City Saturday night at 9 for the championship.

Lee Johnson led with Norfolk State with 23.

Catholic 85, Western Connecticut 73:

In the Alfred Charity Cage Classic in New York, the Cardinals (2-2) got 27 points from senior guard Ken Wills and 16 from junior forward Kevin Morrison to defeat the Colonials (2-2). The Cardinals will face the Alfred-Lehman winner at 8 Saturday night.

Bridgewater 78, Gallaudet 47:

Ramsey Yeatts scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Eagles (4-1) in the opening round of the Bridgewater/Dayton Jaycees tournament at Virginia in Charlottesville. The Eagles will play the Eastern Mennonite-Penn State (Harrisburg) winner at 8:30 Saturday night.

The Bison (1-4) were led by Ken Anderson with 15 points and Brian Bippus with 14 points.

Marymount 70, Virginia Wesleyan 54:

Pierre Gardner's 15 points led the visiting Saints (4-1) over the Blue Marlins (0-6).
