Howard University basketball coach A.B. Williamson suspended three players before last night's game at Burr Gymnasium, but, even shorthanded, the Bison simply overpowered Lincoln University, 85-64, in a nonleague game.

George Hamilton scored 20 points, John Spencer had 18 points and 21 rebounds and Howard Spencer had 16 points and nine rebounds as the Bison improved to 4-1.

During the rout, Williamson did not play guards Jeff Holloman and Chuck Smalley and forward Rodney Green. The veteran coach could afford his disciplinary mood.

Lincoln came into the game with an 0-7 record. It had been allowing 122 points per game and had been losing by an average of 39 points per game.

Lincoln was led by sometimes spectacular, sometimes erratic 6-foot-4 sophomore forward Rudy Yullie. Averaging 30 points per game, he finished with 26 last night.

"We would have sat those three out regardless of who we played," Williamson said of the one-game suspensions he handed out for missing Friday night's bed check.

"But it gave us an opportunity to see some of the other people. Some of those kids have never played that many minutes before."

One player who made the most of his added minutes was 6-8 freshman center Tyrone Powell. A Forestville High School graduate, he finished with 14 points.

"We have to find out who can do the job for us, and games like this let us do that," Williamson said.LINCOLN Min FG FT R A PF T R. Yullie 37 10-29 5-7 7 4 2 26 Miller 33 4-16 0-0 8 0 4 8 Cotton 37 1-6 1-3 11 0 5 3 Brown 37 7-23 5-6 3 0 4
