OLEAN, N.Y., DEC. 28 -- Richard McCormick sank a 23-foot three-point shot with one second remaining to give St. Bonaventure University a 63-60 victory over George Mason tonight.

It was McCormick's third three-pointer in the final seven minutes for the Bonnies (5-2).

McCormick tied the score at 53 with 6:55 to play, but George Mason (5-3) moved ahead, 58-53, with 4:24 left on a layup by Kenny Sanders and a three-point shot by Brian Miller.

St. Bonaventure cut the lead to 58-57 with 2:32 to play, but Sanders scored to put the Patriots back in front, 60-57, with 2:06 left. McCormick tied the score with a three-point shot with 1:52 left before winning the game with another three-pointer.

Sanders led the Patriots with 25 points, despite sitting out the first seven minutes of the game. Brian Miller added 12 points for George Mason. Earl Moore, averaging 18 points a game, did not play because he broke a team rule by missing practice.

George Mason had the ball in the final minute, but lost it on a steal with 18 seconds to play. Two fouls by Miller moved the clock down to four seconds before McCormick took the inbounds pass and swished his shot from the top of the key.
