The St. Louis Cardinals might get a domed stadium in Camden Yards if they agree to move to Baltimore. It would cost $25 million, which could be raised privately, Herb Belgrad, chairman of the Maryland Stadium Authority, says.

"The bottom line is we're going to be able to go forward with a dome, without the need of additional public funds or to go back to the {state} legislature for additional bonding authorization," Belgrad said.

Gov. William Donald Schaefer noted that a dome was not mentioned last year and no money was asked for a dome. But, he said, "in retrospect, it does make sense." . . .

Lineman Karl Nelson, 27, who missed the 1987 season while being treated for cancer, had surgery on his left shoulder that could help him return to football next season, the New York Giants said. He had open surgery instead of the planned arthroscopic surgery at the New York Hospital for Special Surgery . . .
