Guards Sleepy Floyd of Houston and Jeff Hornacek of Phoenix were ejected in the third quarter of last night's game in Phoenix between the Suns and Rockets after starting a fight that spread into the stands. The Suns won the game, 117-106.

The incident took place with 2:20 left in the third quarter, after Hornacek scored on a layup following a Phoenix steal. Hornacek was bumped on the way down by Houston's Jim Petersen and appealed to the referees for a foul. However, Floyd began pushing Hornacek.

The two were separated, but Floyd went after Hornacek again as both benches emptied and the fight went into the first row of seats. Floyd eventually was subdued after he was tackled by Phoenix assistant coach Herb Brown.

Referees Earl Strom and Bernie Fryer ejected both Floyd and Hornacek, and Floyd went after Hornacek again as the two headed to the locker rooms. The benches again emptied, and Floyd had to be restrained by a Maricopa County sheriff's deputy as he shouted obscenities toward Hornacek.
