Junior reserve forward Rocky Llewellyn scored 20 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to lead St. Bonaventure to a 73-64 victory over George Washington in an Atlantic 10 game last night in Olean, N.Y.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Bonnies (8-6, 3-3 in the league). The Colonials (7-8, 1-5) lost their sixth in a row.
Sam Graham added 14 points for St. Bonaventure, with Patrick Allen scoring 13 and Richard McCormick 12.
The Colonials were led by Gerald Jackson with 15 points and six assists. Max Blank scored 13 points, Mike Jones scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Ellis McKennie scored 10.
Llewellyn scored six points in an 8-3 run that gave St. Bonaventure a 27-22 lead midway through the first half. But George Washington rallied to take a 32-31 advantage on Blank's 15-footer.
The Bonnies then scored the last eight points of the half, taking the lead for good on two free throws by Dan Aloi.
Marymount 84, Gallaudet 83:
Guard P.T. Gardner scored 26 points and forward Mike Saale added 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Saints (7-5) over the Bison (6-10) at Marymount. Forward Mike Stultz had 26 for the Bison.
Saale's free throw with 30 seconds left gave the Saints an 84-81 lead that helped seal the victory.
