Wilson's boys swimmers won the last event, the 400-meter relay, to overtake Ballou and repeat as titlist in the Interhigh swimming and diving championships yesterday at Theodore Roosevelt.

The final totals were Wilson 79, Ballou 67, H.D. Woodson 41, Eastern 40, Cardozo 31, Dunbar 14 and Theodore Roosevelt 1.

Wilson's girls also were victorious, taking first place in all but one event to easily outdistance runner-up Cardozo, 108-26.

Wilson senior Susanna Drayne was voted female MVP on the strength of her victories in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyles and her contribution to the winning 400-meter freestyle relay team.

Dunbar's Sabrina Taylor kept Wilson from making it a sweep in the girls events by taking the 100-meter butterfly, leading from start to finish.

In the boys division, Wilson's Nathaniel Beers was voted male MVP as he set an Interhigh and championship meet record in the 100-meter backstroke, 1:08.12.

In the 100-meter breaststroke, Ballou's Kenneth Moore and Jason Jacocks and Wilson's Doug Christiano were neck and neck going into the final lap. But Moore and Jacocks then pulled away from Christiano and Moore nipped Jacocks at the finish line, 1:16.77 to 1:17.06.

Ballou and Wilson went head to head in almost every event. In the 200-meter freestyle, Moore led the whole race until Wilson's Steve Landberg caught him on the final turn to win in 2:32.86 to Moore's 2:34.82.

In the 100-meter butterfly, Wilson's George Villarreal outlasted Ballou's Edwin Smith.
