The wives of SuperSonics players Dale Ellis and Alton Lister were involved in a fistfight Tuesday night after a game in Seattle against the Los Angeles Lakers, it was reported yesterday.

"In my mind, this is a family matter," SuperSonics President Bob Whitsitt said. "But we can't hide it. The incident did occur. It's embarrassing."

Monique Ellis and Bobby Jo Lister fought outside the SuperSonics' locker room 10 minutes after Seattle beat the Lakers, 114-110. Monique Ellis' sister also was involved, the Seattle Times reported.

The fight interrupted Coach Bernie Bickerstaff's news conference in a room 150 feet away, causing Bickerstaff to walk out and ask ask, "What's going on out there?"

Neither the players nor their wives were available to comment.

Bulls 97, 76ers 93: Michael Jordan, who scored 36 points, hit a driving layup with 1:13 remaining, then hit four free throws as Chicago, playing at home, handed Philadelphia its 19th consecutive road loss.

Jordan's late spree overcame a 16-point fourth-quarter performance by Philadelphia's Charles Barkley, who led the 76ers with 32 points and 18 rebounds.

Trail Blazers 135, Suns 12: In Phoenix, Clyde Drexler tied his season-high with 42 points while Jerome Kersey added 28 and Kevin Duckworth 25 as Portland finished a sweep of the six-game season series between the teams.
