FRISCO, TEX., MAY 26 -- Nancy Lopez scored two of only four birdies today, winning $95,000 on the front nine of the first LPGA Skins Game.

Lopez won $45,000 with a downhill 20-foot birdie putt on the sixth hole at the Stonebriar Country Club course and $50,000 with a 12-footer on No. 8.

Betsy King was the only other money-winner in the four-woman field, snaring $45,000 with a two-putt for par-5 on the third hole.

Jan Stephenson and JoAnne Carner were shut out.

The ninth was halved, so the $25,000 prize on that hole is carried over to Sunday, when the final nine holes will be played, with $310,000 up for grabs. Nos. 1-6 are worth $15,000 each, Nos. 7-12 $25,000 each and Nos. 13-18 $35,000 each for a total of $450,000.

On No. 4, Stephenson rolled in a 22-footer for birdie-3 and appeared a winner. But Carner made a downhill 20-footer to halve the hole.

Under the format that requires the prize money on each hole to be carried over if there is not a winner, the birdies counted for nothing.

So $45,000 was riding on the par-3 sixth hole. Lopez's tee shot landed about 20 feet away, King and Stephenson got within 10 feet and Carner missed the green.

Lopez made her birdie putt and King and Stephenson missed theirs.

On the par-5, 492-yard eighth, Lopez put her second shot in a greenside bunker. But she came out to within 12 feet and made the birdie putt. With a carryover from the seventh, it was worth $50,000.
