Dave Silvestri hit two home runs and Prince William rallied from 10-3 deficit tonight to beat Salem 17-13 in a Carolina League slugfest in Salem, Va.
Silvestri hit his first homer with a man on in the sixth to bring the Cannons within one run of the Bucs at 10-9. Salem had led by scores of 6-1 and 10-3.
Silvestri hit his second in the seventh with two on to give the Cannons their first lead at 13-12. Salem tied on an unearned run in the bottom half of the inning before Prince William scored four in the eighth to finish the run production for both teams.
Domingo Merejo was the Salem's hitting star as he also had two home runs, collected four hits and drove in six runs.
Red Sox Down Keys
Lynchburg pulled into a tie with the Frederick at the top of the Carolina League's Northern Division by defeating the visiting Keys, 10-6, at City Stadium last night.
Both teams are now tied at 27-23 with 20 games remaining in the first half of the schedule.
Pete Rose hit a solo eighth-inning homer, but the Red Sox scored four in their half of the inning for a 10-5 lead.
