Former Maryland player Vicky Bullett, four other former members of the U.S. Olympic team and two players from national champion Stanford were among 17 players named as finalists for the 1990 USA women's national basketball team.

Thirty-one-year-old Nancy Lieberman, the 1976 and 1980 Olympian who was attempting a comeback, failed to make the group. But Lisa Leslie, the California high school player who scored 100 points in a half last season, was among the finalists.

The other finalists: Cynthia Cooper, Teresa Edwards, Katrina McClain and Lynette Woodard, all gold medalists in the 1988 Olympics; Jennifer Azzi and Sonja Henning of Stanford; Carolyn Jones and Vickie Orr of Auburn; Edna Campbell of Texas; Dana Chatman of LSU; Medina Dixon of Old Dominion; Vicki Hall of Texas; Dale Hodges of St. Joseph's; Beth Hunt of South Carolina; and Tammy Jackson of Florida.

The 12-member team is scheduled to play in the world championships July 11-22 in Malaysia and in the Goodwill Games July 31-Aug. 5 in Seattle. . . .
