JACKSONVILLE, FLA., JUNE 27 -- Executive III, the Washington metropolitan representative in the junior men's AAU championship basketball tournament, lost to Team Jacksonville, with a raucous home crowd in its favor, 125-118, in overtime tonight.

Playing without its three all-Americans, Duke-bound Grant Hill, Georgetown-bound Charles Harrison and Dickey Simpkins (Providence), all of whom had commitments to another tournament, Executive III seemed as though it could survive the odds, but Team Jacksonville surprised it with a blazing fast break.

Yeoman performances from Bill Burnette (game-high 31 points), Danny Robinson (30 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) and Rodney Smith (13 points, 10 rebounds), nearly were enough for Executive III to overcome the heated atmosphere, but each time it appeared the visitors were going to triumph, Team Jacksonville responded.

Holding leads of 11 in the first half and 12 down the stretch, Executive III was overwhelmed by the athleticism of Team Jacksonville's Aaron Swinson (24 points, 19 rebounds), Rudy Johnson (14 points, 17 rebounds, six blocks) and Kip Stone (22 points).

Everything seemed to be going well for Executive III with under nine minutes remaining, as they led, 94-83. Team Jacksonville, however, sparked by eight points from Swinson, went on a 13-0 run to take a 96-94 lead.

Robinson then scored Executive III's next 10 points before fouling out wih 2:41 left, seconds after he sank a pair of free throws to give his team a 107-104 lead.
