BASKETBALL Utah Jazz -- Signed veteran Delaney Rudd to three-year contract. Terms of deal weren't released, but Salt Lake Tribune reported sources said two of the three years are guaranteed. Total value of the package is a reported $750,000 to $800,000, the Tribune said. Also, team has invited Georgetown's Mark Tillmon, Brigham Young's Andy Toolson and Southern California's Chris Munk to its veterans camp this fall.
EQUESTRIAN World Championships -- New Zealand took individual and team leads after cross country competition in Stockholm. One horse collapsed and later died after the five-mile race with 32 obstacles in unusually hot weather (in the eighties). New Zealander Blyth Tait on Messiah took the lead in the three-day event heading into today's jumping competition. New Zealand's three-member team advanced five places to first, ahead of defending champion Britain, Olympic champion West Germany and the first-day leaders from the United States.
BOWLING International Summer Classic -- Parker Bohn III rolled a strike on his final ball to close out Hugh Miller, 247-236, in title match in Edmond, Okla. Bohn collected $38,000 for his second PBA title of the year and fourth of his career.
