BASKETBALL Dallas Mavericks -- Gs Rolando Blackman and Derek Harper signed additions to their contracts resulting in more money for the players, at the club's initiative. Terms were not disclosed. It's the third time terms have been revised for Blackman and Harper. Phoenix Suns -- Reportedly have reached agreement on a renegotiated five-year contract with G Jeff Hornacek that should make him the team's third $1 million-a-year player.
FOOTBALL Buffalo Bills -- Activated LB Shane Conlan and RB Thurman Thomas. The Bills were given a two-week roster exemption after the two players, along with OT Will Wolford, reported after holdouts that ended last week. Wolford will not be activated for today's opener against the Colts. To make room for Conlan and Thomas, RB Eddie Fuller (knee) was placed on IR. Dallas Cowboys -- Activated rookie RB Emmitt Smith and said he "probably" would see action today against the Chargers. Smith ended his 48-day holdout, the longest in Cowboys history, Tuesday. Green Bay Packers -- Activated QB Don Majkowski, who practiced only four times after a 45-day holdout. Majkowski will not start today against the Rams. Anthony Dilweg, Majkowski's backup last season, was named the starter nearly two weeks ago. To make room for Majkowski, the Packers waived veteran WR Carl Bland. Houston Oilers -- Activated CB Patrick Allen in time to be available for today's game against the Atlanta Falcons. The Oilers waived reserve QB Don McPherson to make room on the roster. Kansas City Chiefs -- Activated CB Kevin Ross and said he would start in the season opener today against the Vikings. The Chiefs also activated LB Louis Cooper, who signed last Sunday. RB James Saxon and LB Lonnie Marts were put on IR, both with ankle injuries. Philadelphia Eagles -- Released QB Ben Brown to make room for FB Anthony Toney.
