Howard gave up two early goals and lost to Vermont, 4-1, yesterday in the opening game of the University of Hartford soccer tournament.

The Bison's Kona Hislop made it 2-1 just before the half. As Howard (0-2) was working for the equalizer in the second half, Hislop was penalized for kicking a Vermont player in the penalty box. Vermont (2-1) converted the penalty kick to go up by 3-1.

Navy (1-2) defeated Hartford, 3-2. Jimmy Mulik had two assists and the winning goal for the Mids.

UDC 3, Longwood 2: David Crooks scored 1:52 into the second overtime in Farmville, Va.

After a scoreless first half, Longwood (2-2) took a 1-0 lead.
