Virginia -- QB Shawn Moore is ACC offensive back of the week after passing for four touchdowns and running for two in win over Navy.

Maryland -- WR Barry Johnson is ACC receiver of the week. He caught four passes -- all for first downs -- for 90 yards in loss to Clemson. G Carmine Isaaco (shutout against Virginia) is ACC soccer co-player of the week.

American -- D Rajindra Lalchan is CAA soccer player of the week.

North Carolina -- Women's soccer team won its 103rd straight, 3-0 over Berry College. Sophomore F Mia Hamm from Lake Braddock High scored all three goals.


Asian Games -- More than 200 Taiwanese athletes left for Beijing, marking the first time in 20 years a Taiwanese delegation is taking part. Taiwan was barred when China was admitted. Taiwan recently was re-admitted after agreeing to participate under the name Chinese Taipei instead of its official name, Republic of China. Forty-two Kuwaiti athletes, accompanied by one coach, arrived in Beijing, their entourage diminished by Iraq's invasion. The Olympic Council of Asia is scheduled to meet Thursday to decide whether Iraq should be banned from the Games.
