49ERS: LB Michael Walter, San Francisco's leading tackler the past several years, was placed on injured reserve. DE Larry Roberts will be activated.

BILLS: Waived P John Nies and RB Eric Starr.

CHARGERS: K Fuad Reveiz, told two weeks ago by Coach Dan Henning that his job was in jeopardy, was released. He missed attempts of 45 and 27 yards in Sunday's 17-7 loss to Houston. K John Carney is expected to be signed.

BROWNS: Holdout CB Frank Minnifield is reportedly close to signing. S Keith Bostic was waived.

GIANTS: WR Odessa Turner was placed on IR following arthroscopic knee surgery. WR Stacy Robinson, who has been cut three times by New York, was to replace him. WR Troy Kyles, a rookie out of Howard University, was signed for the developmental squad.

LIONS: QB Rodney Peete will be out for the next two or three weeks because of a severe hamstring pull. Bob Gagliano, who led Lions to victories in final five games of 1989, will start Sunday against Vikings.

COWBOYS: Activated WR Michael Irvin and DB Kenneth Gant from IR.

RAMS: RB Marcus Dupree, 26, who has not played in five years since suffering a knee injury in USFL, was given tryout.

DOLPHINS: Rookie LG Keith Sims (knee) will be out at least a month.
