Denver Nuggets forward Bill Hanzlik likely will miss the season after suffering a herniated disk in training camp on Saturday. Surgery is set for today.

"I won't know what this means, as far as my career is concerned, for a few days," Hanzlik said.

Hanzlik had two disks removed from his lower back in 1987 and 1988. This injury appears to involve what remains of one of the disks. . . .

Arn Tellem, agent for Kendall Gill, has sent a letter to the NBA, accusing Charlotte Hornets Vice President Allan Bristow of physically abusing him last week, the Charlotte Observer reported.

Tellem asked the league to fine, suspend or terminate Bristow after an incident in Bristow's office, Hornets owner George Shinn said. Although the two principals declined to comment, Shinn told the Observer each man's version of what happened.

Tellem "said that Allan forced him up against the wall, choked him," Shinn said. "Allan said Arn started yelling at him, and they got in each other's faces. {Bristow} said, 'I did push my finger in front of his chest.' That's no physical abuse. Geez, Allan drove him to the airport" afterward.

Tellem declined to comment because he did not want to disrupt negotiations that are close to getting Gill, the Hornets' first-round pick, signed.
