TITANS TAKE CHARGE:

Early in the fourth quarter of a 6-6 game against Hayfield, T.C. Williams took possession at its 39 following a punt.

On first down, running back Ratcliff Thomas took a handoff and started to his right on what looked to be an end sweep. He then pulled up and lofted a long pass to wide-open Terrence Prince, who stretched and caught the ball at the Hawks 22. Five plays later Thomas scored from the 5-yard line.

"We use that play every so often and this was the time to use it," Thomas said. "The play looks like a run and {Prince} ran past the cornerback and was open. All I had to do was get the ball there."

The Titans went on to win, 28-6, and keep their undefeated record intact.

PANTHERS HOLD ON:

Unbeaten Potomac, having yielded only 27 points in its previous seven games, was doing a good job controlling Fairfax's tough running game.

But Fairfax quarterback Brian Day's sharp passing set up a one-yard touchdown run by Lee Cook as Fairfax pulled within 18-15 late in the fourth period.

After a Panthers punt, Day drove his team from the Rebels 39 to the Panthers 24 with less than a minute remaining.

But his pass to the end zone was intercepted by safety Sal Colangelo, allowing the Panthers to raise their record to 8-0.
