The University of Virginia will play its NCAA second-round tournament match at home against North Carolina Sunday at 2 p.m. The 10th-ranked Cavaliers (11-5-6) were awarded the home site during a conference call late Sunday night.

In first-round games last weekend, Virginia defeated Richmond, 1-0, and North Carolina (13-6) edged Wake Forest, 2-1. The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the South Region final on Nov. 25 against the South Carolina-North Carolina State winner.

While its men's team is on the road, North Carolina will host the women's Final Four, which begins Saturday. The Tar Heels (18-1-1), four-time defending champions, overcame one-goal deficits late in regulation and in overtime to defeat N.C. State, 4-3, Sunday.

ACC player of the year Mia Hamm (Lake Braddock High) had a goal and two assists, despite having to be removed from the game twice with a knee injury.

North Carolina will play Colorado College (16-2-2) at 11 a.m., followed by Santa Clara (18-0-1) and Connecticut (14-7-1) at 2. The final is Sunday at 1.

In the JuCo championships, the top-ranked Montgomery-Rockville men's team (18-1-1) will play Herkimer, N.Y., (18-1-1) Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mercer Community College in Trenton, N.J. The Anne Arundel women (12-4-3) will face School Kraft, Mich., Thursday at 1. Semifinals are Friday and finals Sunday.
