SUMNER'S OVER:

Charlie Sumner, coordinator of the second-worst defense in the NFL, resigned from the Patriots. Coach Rod Rust said Sumner's duties will be shared by the remaining defensive coaches.

STONE FREE:

Giants Coach Bill Parcells returned to work, less than a day after his kidney stone was pulverized. "I'm a little less than perfect but much better than before," he said.

DON STILL GONE:

Packers QB Don Majkowski will miss his fourth straight game and is seeking a second opinion on an injured right shoulder that could keep him out the rest of the season. Anthony Dilweg will start against the Eagles.

Philadelphia DT Mike Pitts may play Sunday; he's missed 11 games after knee surgery. It depends how things go in practice. The Eagles claimed OT Louis Cheek on waivers from the Cowboys, cut WR Anthony Edwards.

BOUNTY II:

Dolphins WR Jim Jensen said he may have been the target of a bounty by the Eagles on Sunday. He said teammate DE Jeff Cross was told by an Eagle that Philadelphia Coach Buddy Ryan offered a bounty for the best hit on Jensen.

During an offseason basketball game between the teams, Jensen was accused of rough play.
