Itsallgreektome enhanced his bid for honors as the best grass runner of 1990 with a record-setting, one-length victory in the $500,000 Hollywood Turf Cup yesterday at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif.

Well rated by Corey Nakatani, the 3-year-old gelding rallied late to finish 1 1/2 miles in 2:24 4/5, one second under Alphabatim's 1986 stakes record.

Mashkour, a 20-1 shot ridden by Chris McCarron, finished second and Live The Dream, with Alex Solis, was third in the field of 14.

Itsallgreektome, the 5-2 favorite of the crowd of 20,923, paid $7, $4.60 and $3.20. Mashkour returned $18.40 and $11.40, and Live The Dream $7.60.

In this race for 3-year-olds and up, the late-developing Itsallgreektome posted his second straight big-money victory at Hollywood Park, having won the Derby on Nov. 11. He first burst into prominence when, at 27-1, he finished a neck behind winner Royal Academy in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Mile Oct. 27 at Belmont.

Itsallgreektome carried 122 pounds.

Laurel: Gilded Youth ran hard through the stretch for a five-length victory in the eighth running of the $44,904 Virginia Stallion Stakes.

Gilded Youth, owned by Orme Wilson Jr. of White Post, Va., ran the seven furlongs in 1:26 with the track's leading jockey, Mike Luzzi.

Genuino finished second by a length and three-quarters over Mountain Dance, the favorite in the field of 11 2-year-olds, whose sires stand in Virginia.

Palmer Stakes: At Aqueduct in New York, Argyle Lake won the $86,550 Joe Palmer Stakes after Herr Von Kaninchen was disqualified and placed fourth in the seven-horse field.

Herr Von Kaninchen finished a half-length ahead of Argyle Lake, but Mike Smith, riding Herr Von Kaninchen, inadvertently struck Valid Case with his whip deep in the stretch.
