MAKING A CHANGE:

The Vikings, who were 6-10 last season, have released offensive coordinator Bob Schnelker and defensive coordinator Floyd Peters.

"They both are excellent coaches and we all appreciate the contributions they have made to the successes of this club," said Coach Jerry Burns. "But we felt that, as we refocus and reorganize for the 1991 season, these changes were necessary."

Schnelker, 62, and Peters, 54, were both named to coordinator positions in 1986.

TOO TALL:

For three months, 11-year-old Angelique Dunaway thought she would be performing with the singing group New Kids on the Block in the halftime show of the 1991 Super Bowl.

But during the first rehearsal for the 1,600-children show, the 5-foot-2 fifth-grader was cut from the show because she's 2 inches too tall by casting standards for the event.

Nineteen other girls from the region also were cut because of height, said Wendy Abraham, cast coordinator.

STUNG:

They expected to pick up tickets to the Super Bowl. Instead, they got a trip to jail.

Seventy people wanted on outstanding criminal warrants showed up Friday at a hotel ballroom in New Port Richey, Fla., after receiving letters telling them they had won tickets to the Jan. 27 game.

Those arrested were booked on 154 felony and misdemeanor charges.

RAMS OFFER:

Eagles defensive coach Jeff Fisher, 32, says he expects to reach an agreement to become the Rams' defensive coordinator.

Rams Coach John Robinson said he will have a replacement for Fritz Shurmur, who was fired with five assistants last Wednesday, within a few days.
