The Navy women's basketball team last night extended its school-record winning streak to 10 games with a 66-47 triumph over Lafayette in Annapolis.
While each team connected for 18 field goals, seven of Navy's were three-pointers. The Midshipmen (13-5) also beat the Leopards at the free throw line, making 23 of 35 to the Layayette's 11 of 21.
Junior forward Angie Dobbs paced Navy with 18 points. Guard Heather Brand scored 14.
Terri Dadio scored 14 points to lead Lafayette (7-11).
Georgetown 80, Pittsburgh 72: Sophomore guard Kris Witfill scored a school-record 38 points and made 16 of 17 free throws to lead the Hoyas (9-8, 4-5 in Big East) past the Panthers (11-9, 6-3) at McDonough Arena.
Elizabeth City State 84, Bowie State 41: Demetris Rowe scored a game-high 22 points and three other Vikings scored in double figures to rout the Bulldogs (4-12, 1-5 CIAA). Valerie Curtis scored 20 points to lead Bowie State, which played only six players and made 30 percent (19 of 63) of its shots.
Georgia 117, Mississippi 62: Jody Patton hit six of eight three-point shots and finished with 22 points as the Bulldogs took an early 30-point lead.
Clemson 81, S. Carolina St. 45: Courtney Johnson had 12 points and five steals as the No. 20 Tigers won at home. It was the fifth straight victory for Clemson (15-5). South Carolina State fell to 12-7.
