OLEAN, N.Y., JAN. 31 -- George Washington collected its third consecutive victory, defeating St. Bonaventure, 88-51, tonight in an Atlantic 10 game.

Jason Brower, who led the Bonnies with 17 points, hit a three-pointer to open the game. Then the Colonials, paced by Dirkk Surles's 10 points went on a 36-5 run. Surles, who finished with 16, Rodney Patterson, Ellis McKennie and Sonni Holland combined for 35 points as the Colonials (12-7, 6-5) took a 46-16 halftime lead.

All but two of the Colonials scored and five finished in double figures. Holland totaled 13 points, followed by McKennie's 12, Patterson's 11, and Glen Sitney with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

They shot 20 of 34 in the first half and held St. Bonaventure to four for 23 -- 17 percent.

With George Washington shooting 35 for 63 (55.6 percent) for the game, the Bonnies (4-16, 0-12) got no closer than 25 points in the second half. They totaled 18 turnovers.

Early in the second half, St. Bonaventure's Quinn Smith and Garland Mance collided while chasing a pass. Mance njured a knee and left the game. After nearly 10 minutes, Smith was carried off on a stretcher and hospitalized for observation.
