Paul Azinger, playing in his "sixth or eighth" Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, shot a 5-under-par 67 for a 134 total that lifted him into a two-stroke lead after the second round of the tournament in Pebble Beach, Calif.

Rocco Mediate hit a 5-iron shot 199 yards and into the cup for an ace on the 15th hole at Spyglass Hill en route to a 67 and a tie for second place with Jay Delsing, 68. Larry Mize (66) and Davis Love III (70) were next at 137. . . .

Chi Chi Rodriguez's scorecard offered no hint of the difficult bunker shot he faced on the seventh hole in the Royal Caribbean Classic, a PGA Seniors Tour event in Key Biscayne, Fla. That's because he holed it out from 60 feet for a birdie en route to a share of the first-round lead.

"One of the greatest shots I ever hit in my life," Rodriguez said.

He and Bruce Crampton turned in 5-under-par 66s, and George Archer and Gary Player were a stroke back in the 54-hole tournament. . . .

Dottie Mochrie (71), Meg Mallon (70) and Colleen Walker (71) shared a one-stroke lead at 136 in the $400,000 LPGA Classic in Lake Worth, Fla., but had to wait for 39 players to finish the second round to know where they stood.

Darkness enveloped Wycliffe Golf and Country Club before the second round was completed, a carryover from Thursday's fog-delayed start.
