Julius McNeil scored four points in overtime, including two free throws with 16 seconds left, to lift Howard to an 88-87 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over Florida A&M last night in Tallahassee, Fla., before 3,579. Howard has won three of its last four games.

With Skip Bynum scoring 16 of his career-high 32 points in the first half, Howard (5-18, 4-8) led at intermission, 49-30.

The Rattlers (10-12, 7-6) rallied in the second half as Reggie Finney scored 11 points in an 18-2 run that gave them a 65-64 lead with 7:12 left.

There were four lead changes after that. Howard led 82-76 after Kelsey Sturdivant's free throws with 1:05 left. Florida A&M scored six straight points, including a steal and layup by Darrel Williams with eight seconds left in regulation, tying the game at 82 to force overtime.

The Rattlers were led by Delon Turner's 29 points and 15 rebounds.

James Madison 75, UNC-Wilmington 72: Fess Irvin scored 23 points and Steve Hood 19 as James Madison (16-7, 10-1) held off its visiting Colonial Athletic Association rival.

Norfolk St. 71, Bowie St. 54: At Norfolk, Jerome Coles had 28 points and season-high 18 rebounds to lead the Spartans (14-10). Norfolk took a 40-28 halftime lead, paced by Coles's 19. Bret Givens had 15 points for Bowie (7-16), which shot 22 percent from the floor.

Ursinus 74, Catholic 64: Pete Smith had 22 points as Ursinus (10-13) overcame a 38-31 Catholic lead and won in Collegeville, Pa. Catholic (9-14) had 20 points from Michael Connelly.

Gallaudet 82, Goucher 55: Sophomore Anthony Jones scored 30 to lead the Bison (14-9) at home.

Capitol College 79, Christendom 67: Keith Alvarez had 29 points, Shane Smith 26 and Chris Dixon had a school-record 16 assists in leading the Laurel school (10-14) at Front Royal, Va.

Charles CC 90, Howard CC 83: At home, Kevin Krush scored his 1,000th career point as he scored 25 and had 16 rebounds in Charles' second consecutive win.
