The Miami Fusion, behind goals by Diego Serna and Henry Gutierrez, snapped a five-game losing streak last night with a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Mutiny in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Tampa Bay (5-5, nine points) had its five-game winning streak snapped as it suffered its first loss since acquiring Carlos Valderrama from the Fusion on April 23.
The win moved the Fusion (4-8, eight points) into a three-way tie with New England and New York/New Jersey for fourth place in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference.
REVOLUTION 4, METROSTARS 3: At Giants Stadium, Giovanni Savarese scored two goals in his first game against his former MetroStars teammates as New England won in a shootout.
John Harkes scored the only goal in the shootout and backup goaltender Jeff Causey, who came on in the final two minutes of regulation time, didn't let the MetroStars beat him in giving the Revolution the win.
CREW 2, GALAXY 1: Jeff Cunningham tied the score in the 88th minute and then scored the winning goal in the shootout round as Columbus (7-3) topped visiting Los Angeles (5-6). With the win, Crew goalie Mark Dougherty tied the MLS all-time record of 42 wins set by Dallas's Mark Dodd.
