The New Britain Rock Cats scored a run off Bowie reliever Mike McDougal in the bottom of the ninth inning to gain a 6-5 Class AA Eastern League victory over the Baysox last night in New Britain, Conn.

McDougal (2-3) gave up four hits in the inning.

First baseman Tom Hage paced the Baysox with two hits and three RBI, including his fourth homer. Bowie (29-20) fell 1 1/2 games behind Erie in the Eastern League's South Division.

HILLCATS 7, KEYS 4: Frederick (24-27) dropped its sixth straight game and seventh of its past eight with a Class A Carolina League loss in Lynchburg, Va.

The Hillcats scored six runs in the first two innings off Brandon Huntsman (2-2), who gave up nine hits and struck out three in three innings.

Frederick first baseman Franky Figueroa hit a three-run homer, his eighth.

BLUE ROCKS 6, CANNONS 3: Potomac's Carolina League-worst record fell to 19-32 with the loss in Wilmington, Del.

The Cannons had a 3-2 lead going into the seventh but the Blue Rocks scored four runs off reliever Mike Huffaker (0-2).

Cannons left fielder David Kim hit his ninth home run.
