Scott Garlick extended his team-record winning streak to six games and his regulation shutout streak to 354 minutes last night as the host Tampa Bay Mutiny notched a 1-0 victory over the Miami Fusion.

The victory was the sixth in seven games for the Mutiny. Garlick preserved his third straight shutout by stopping Jay Heaps's header from in close with 2 1/2 minutes left.

Alejandro Sequiera scored for the Mutiny in the fifth minute on a header from point-blank range.

Carlos Valderrama assisted on Sequiera's goal. He has one goal and two assists in three games against his former team since returning to Tampa Bay in late April.

BURN 5, METROSTARS 2: In East Rutherford, N.J., Jason Kreis had two goals and two assists to lead Dallas to its third win in four games. New York/New Jersey, playing without a foreign player in its lineup, lost its third straight.

John Jairo Trellez flicked a glancing header into the upper right corner after a cross from Mark Santel in the 31st minute to give the Burn a 1-0 lead. Santel made it 2-0 eight minutes later when he scored off a lead pass from Kreis.

REVOLUTION 2, FIRE 0: Joe-Max Moore and Ivan McKinley scored goals to lead New England to its first regulation victory at home this season. Moore scored from seven yards in the 17th minute and McKinley headed in a cross by John Harkes in the 76th minute.
